The Caloosa Winnies first camping weekend of the season was November 4 – 7, 2010 at Riverside RV Resort at Arcadia, Florida with 34 coaches in attendance! It was GREAT to see everyone again and share summer stories! Some members arrived a day early to get things organized and start the fun early! Thursday at 4:00pm was our first Happy Hour of the weekend and it was a noisy and joyous occasion! Soon it was time to head out to Joe Cracker’s Restaurant and enjoy dinner together! Upon return to the park some of us played cards and had some laughs!

Friday morning the weather turned cool for Florida which was a welcome change! Our Pancake Breakfast was served at 8:30am with some of the men being creative and making GREAT pancakes! Ted & Janis Fumia, 2^nd Vice Presidents of the Florida State Winnie Gators joined us as guests Friday morning for the weekend! 

Later that morning the women gathered in the Rec Hall under the guidance of Ellen Zucker to make Pot Luck plastic canvas bags. Busy fingers and lots of talking – it was a fun time! After lunch we held our annual Beanbag Baseball Tournament with 4 teams vying for the prizes! Belinda Feldgoise (also know as slugger!) led her team to victory after the “world series” was played! Team members included Carol Mastro, Janis Fumia, Jack MacGregor, Corinne Wightman, Gary Darner, Sue Hall, Frank Cipolla, Gene Hogan & Doris Palmer. The winners got a great prize for their efforts – a box of Cracker Jacks! 

Happy Hour began at 4:00pm followed by dinner  of Swedish Meatballs, and loads of side dishes that filled the tables, donated by the members. After dinner a slide show presentation was done from GNR and all the antics that went on for those 2 weeks! Lots of laughs were heard as we relived the event through pictures! John and Ella Thurston also showed a CD from their summer adventures on the W.I.T. caravan to Newfoundland. 

Saturday morning was our Potluck breakfast – tables of wonderful food prepared by the BEST cooks in Florida! At 10:00am Charlie and Ellen Zucker presided over the business meeting with lots of news to share. Our Slate of Officers for 2011 was presented to be voted on at the December meeting. The rest of the day was spent by some of the ladies working on the craft projects and some of the men working on each others coaches! 

Happy Hour was again at 4:00pm with the delicious aroma of turkey cooking for dinner! Our turkey carvers were busy in the kitchen and had everything ready for serving promptly at 5:30pm. It was such a wonderful spread – it got us all in the Thanksgiving spirit! After the tables were cleared it was time for some games! Our “Turkey Trot” Relay Race was held outside under the pavilion with the group divided into teams. Each team had a set of “turkey feathers” they had to wear and cross to their teammates back and forth until we had a first place winner! What a bunch of good sports!! We had so many laughs – it was such a fun game! The winning team members were Pete Wightman, Ellen Zucker, Ted Fumia, Sue Swift and Tony Sciarrino.  The rest of the evening the members played various card and board games until late into the evening! 

Sunday morning everyone gathered for a continental breakfast before adjourning for the weekend! It was a fun filled time and we’re off to a great start for our new season!
